Maria Montessori Academy is an independent school in Victoria offering dynamic, hands-on learning to students from Preschool to Grade 12. This is a community-based school boasting low student/teacher ratios and an all-around excellent working environment.

We are seeking a full-time BC teacher to join our Upper Elementary team beginning January 2027 for a maternity leave. This specific posting is for a well-established Upper Elementary (grades 4-6) classroom of 24 students.

Montessori training and/or experience is essential for this role. Additionally, the classroom teacher should be a forward-thinking educator and is expected to deliver lessons across the curriculum, following both the provincial and Montessori curricula, while maintaining a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.





Required qualities in a candidate are:

Elementary Montessori accreditation and/or experience

BC Teacher Certification

Current First Aid & CPR-C

Desired qualities in a candidate are:

Successful experience working with and understanding students of this age group

Excellent communication skills with students, their parents, and colleagues

Being organized, punctual, and reliable

Invested in career development and furthering their own learning as a professional

Interested in working collaboratively with classroom assistants and other teachers

Excited about participating in extracurricular activities
