Apply building code expertise as a Building and Plumbing Inspector II with the City of Victoria, reviewing plans and inspecting construction.
This full time position regulates and enforces building and plumbing codes, standards, acts, and bylaws. You will assess permit applications, conduct site inspections, interpret requirements, and approve permits. The work supports applicants, contractors, consultants, public agencies, and City departments through technical guidance and enforcement.
Key Responsibilities: Review concept plans and building permit applications for compliance
Conduct construction inspections and observe building component testing
Issue permits, stop work orders, and enforcement measures
Investigate construction complaints and conduct required follow-up
Prepare reports,



correspondence, and court evidence when required
Requirements: Related two-year technical school diploma or applicable journeyperson certification
Six years of related experience or equivalent education and experience
Ability to obtain required BOABC qualifications within nine months
Current and valid Class 5 British Columbia driver's licence
Ability to interpret drawings, codes, standards, and regulations
Bring inspection, code interpretation, permitting, and public communication skills to the City of Victoria's building services.
