Lead City of Markham summer camps through program planning, staff supervision, and daily operations across designated recreation areas.
This temporary part-time Camp Director position manages camps serving children ages four to 16. You will oversee programming, administration, safety, and inclusion while supervising 40 to 50 staff, volunteers, and supervisors. Work is casual from February to mid-May 2027, then full time, 35 hours weekly, from mid-May through August.
Key Responsibilities: Manage summer day camps across designated recreation areas
Plan schedules, routines, procedures, and staff resources
Oversee daily activities, before care, after care, and busing
Evaluate risks and prioritize camper safety and protection
Train, coach, schedule, and assess camp staff
Requirements: Two years of post-secondary Recreation education or relevant field
Two summers of senior camp supervisory experience
Knowledge of program planning and child development stages
Current First Aid, CPR C, and AED certification
G2 license, car access, HIGH FIVE certification, and VSS
Bring recreation leadership, child development knowledge, and staff supervision experience to City of Markham summer camps.
