About the Role
Olympic Wholesale is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our Purchasing Team. This position plays a critical role in sourcing quality products, negotiating competitive pricing, and fostering strong supplier relationships to support our expanding operations in the food distribution industry. As a Buyer, you will oversee purchasing activities with a focus on packaging and other product categories. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams—including marketing, logistics, and operations—to ensure inventory needs are met efficiently while supporting broader cost-saving and product development goals. Duties / Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement of goods in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to maximize value and maintain healthy margins
- Build and sustain strong supplier partnerships through effective communication and performance tracking
- Monitor inventory levels, including forecasting and planning for seasonal demands and shelf-life-sensitive products
- Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery
- Work with the marketing and sales departments to align product selection with customer demand
- Analyze purchasing and sales data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Identify and implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality and service standards
- Create and maintain accurate purchasing records and reports
- Support ongoing improvement initiatives within the purchasing function
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with corporate objectives Required Skills

- Comfort with public speaking and cross-departmental collaboration Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in a purchasing or procurement role (experience with packaging or paper products is an asset)
- College diploma or university degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Working towards or completion of a PMAC/SCMA designation is a strong asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required); experience with ERP or procurement software preferred
- Strong numeracy skills, including handling exchange rates, cost analysis, and percentages
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
