Part-Time Cook – Oliver House

Caledon Village, Ontario Position: Part time Cook Workplace: Oliver House Job Overview Oliver House is a supportive housing residence serving approximately 50 adults who benefit from a safe, stable and welcoming home environment. We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Part-Time Cook to prepare nutritious, home-style meals for our residents. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and contributing to a respectful and supportive residential environment. Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious, home-style meals for approximately 50 residents.
- Follow established menus, recipes, portion sizes and meal schedules.
- Accommodate residents' documented dietary requirements, including modified textures and other medically directed diets.
- Maintain proper food storage, labeling, temperature controls and safe food-handling practices.
- Ensure kitchen equipment, preparation areas and dining spaces are clean, sanitary and organized.
- Monitor food supplies, assist with inventory and communicate purchasing needs to management.
- Minimize food waste while maintaining meal quality and appropriate portions.
- Work collaboratively with residential support staff to ensure meals are served safely and on schedule.

Public Health requirements and applicable food-safety regulations. Qualifications Required:
- Valid Ontario Food Handler Certification.
- Experience preparing and cooking meals for groups.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation and kitchen safety.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and follow established menus.
- Dependable attendance and strong organizational skills.
- Respectful and professional communication with residents and coworkers.
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- First Aid Certificate Preferred:
- Previous cooking experience in supportive housing, retirement homes, group homes, institutional kitchens or similar settings.
- Experience preparing meals for individuals with dietary restrictions or texture-modified diets.
- Familiarity with Ontario Public Health food-service requirements.
