Fixed Operations Manager – Import Dealership
Location:
Okanagan, British Columbia
Job Type
Full-Time, Permanent Confidential Opportunity About the Opportunity A busy, established import automotive dealership in the Okanagan is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and hands-on Fixed Operations Manager to oversee its Service, Parts, and Detail departments. This is a fast-paced operation with significant opportunities for growth. We are looking for a strong leader who can increase customer-pay business, improve customer retention, deliver an exceptional customer experience, and effectively manage the reconditioning demands of a busy vehicle sales department. This is not an office-based management position. We expect our Fixed Operations Manager to be highly visible throughout the dealership, spending time in the service drive, on the shop floor, and interacting regularly with employees and customers. The right candidate will be someone who thrives in a busy environment, is exceptionally organized, leads by example, and enjoys being directly involved in the day-to-day operation.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Daily Operations
- Oversee the performance and daily operations of Service, Parts, and Detail.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence in the service drive, shop, and throughout the dealership.
- Engage regularly with service advisors, technicians, parts personnel, detail staff, and customers.
- Lead daily operational discussions, identify bottlenecks, and ensure work is progressing efficiently.
- Develop, coach, and hold team members accountable to clear performance expectations.
- Establish organized, consistent processes that improve productivity, communication, and efficiency. Customer-Pay Growth & Retention
- Develop strategies to grow customer-pay repair orders, labour sales, and gross profit.
- Improve customer retention through consistent follow-up, relationship building, and exceptional service.
- Coach service advisors on identifying maintenance opportunities, presenting recommendations, and building customer value.
- Monitor key performance indicators and take action to improve results.
- Build a culture focused on long-term customer relationships rather than individual transactions. Shop Management & Reconditioning
- Balance customer-pay, warranty, and internal reconditioning work in a high-volume shop.
- Work closely with the Sales Department to ensure vehicle reconditioning is completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain strong organization and communication between Service, Parts, Detail, and Sales.
- Improve shop workflow, technician productivity, dispatch, and turnaround times.
- Ensure internal work is managed effectively without negatively impacting retail service opportunities. Customer Experience
- Be actively involved in the service drive, engaging with customers and supporting service advisors.
- Lead by example in delivering a professional, transparent, and welcoming customer experience.
- Take ownership of customer concerns and work toward timely, effective resolutions.
- Ensure communication, follow-up, and customer satisfaction remain priorities throughout the dealership. What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in automotive Fixed Operations or Service Management.
- Import dealership experience is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple departments and competing priorities.
- A hands-on,
approachable leadership style with a genuine desire to be involved in daily operations.
- Someone who enjoys interacting with employees and customers and is comfortable spending the majority of their day outside an office.
- Demonstrated success growing customer-pay business and improving customer retention.
- Strong understanding of dealership financial performance, labour productivity, gross profit, and operational KPIs.
- Experience managing busy service departments and internal vehicle reconditioning.
- Strong coaching, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- PBS dealership management software experience is an asset.
What We Offer
- A leadership opportunity within a busy, established import dealership.
- Significant opportunities to grow the business and make a measurable impact.
- A rapid-paced, team-oriented working environment.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and performance.
- Long-term career growth opportunities. The Right Fit We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable reviewing financial performance, helping an advisor in the service drive, speaking with a customer, or walking the shop to resolve a workflow issue. You must be organized enough to manage the big picture while remaining actively involved in the details that drive daily performance. If your preferred management style is to spend most of your day behind a desk, this likely will not be the right opportunity. However, if you enjoy leading from the front, developing your team, building customer relationships, and taking ownership of a busy operation with significant growth potential, we would like to hear from you. All applications will be handled confidentially. Pay: $140,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
