Clinicians must be able to accommodate at least 5–6 in-person clients on Saturdays, with additional virtual appointments throughout the week based on their availability. About Hedefa Psychotherapy Clinic Hedefa Psychotherapy Clinic is a growing, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming private practice located in downtown Toronto, at 2 Bloor Street West, offering both in-person psychotherapy and virtual services across Ontario. Our practice specializes in working with adults navigating complex emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. A significant proportion of our referrals involve Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), BPD-related traits, complex trauma (C-PTSD), and attachment-related difficulties, alongside clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and identity-related concerns. Many of our clients present with complex and overlapping concerns, including emotional dysregulation, fear of abandonment, interpersonal difficulties, chronic shame, dissociation, difficulties with self-concept, and longstanding patterns rooted in childhood and relational trauma. We are particularly committed to providing LGBTQ+-affirming, BIPOC-affirming, culturally responsive, and nonjudgmental care. Our clients come from diverse cultural, racial, religious, and sexual identity backgrounds, and we prioritize clinicians who can approach these experiences with sensitivity, cultural humility, and an understanding of intersectionality. As our referral volume continues to grow, we are looking to expand our team with dedicated, compassionate, and clinically skilled psychotherapists who feel comfortable working with complex presentations and providing thoughtful, individualized treatment. The Role We are seeking a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) to join our team as an independent contractor. This is a hybrid position, with required in-person availability at our downtown Toronto office and the flexibility to provide additional virtual psychotherapy sessions throughout Ontario. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with clients experiencing BPD, complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, and attachment-related difficulties. We are seeking clinicians who can establish strong therapeutic relationships, navigate clinical complexity, and provide evidence-informed, culturally responsive care. Schedule and Availability Weekend availability is an essential requirement for this position.
- Saturdays: Must be available for in-person sessions during the daytime and evenings, with the capacity to see a minimum of 5–6 clients.
- Sunday evenings: Must be available for in-person sessions as requested, based on client demand and scheduling needs.
- Weekdays: Additional virtual sessions can be scheduled flexibly throughout the week based on clinician availability and client demand.
- Expected caseload: Approximately 10–15+ clients per week, with opportunities to grow over time. We are looking for a clinician interested in building a consistent caseload and developing long-term therapeutic relationships with clients. Clinical Presentations We Work With The majority of our referrals involve clients presenting with BPD-related concerns, complex trauma, and longstanding emotional or relational difficulties. Applicants should feel comfortable working with:
- Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD): Emotional dysregulation, interpersonal sensitivity, fear of abandonment, identity disturbances, impulsivity, self-harm behaviours, and chronic feelings of emptiness.
- Complex trauma and C-PTSD: Childhood trauma, attachment wounds, dissociation, emotional neglect, and chronic relational trauma.
- Attachment and relationship difficulties: Anxious and avoidant attachment patterns, relationship instability, codependency, and difficulties with boundaries.
- Depression and anxiety: Mood difficulties, persistent worry, panic symptoms, and challenges with emotional regulation.
- Identity-related concerns: Sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural identity, family conflict, religious trauma, and experiences of marginalization.
- ADHD and neurodivergence: Executive functioning difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, rejection sensitivity, and associated relational concerns.

We are particularly interested in clinicians who understand that complex mental health presentations require individualized, collaborative, and relationally attuned treatment rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Required Clinical Competencies Applicants must demonstrate competence and experience in:
- Working with BPD or significant emotional dysregulation, including an understanding of attachment-related difficulties, interpersonal sensitivity, and personality-related patterns.
- Trauma-informed psychotherapy, particularly with clients who have experienced complex or developmental trauma.
- LGBTQ+-affirming practice, including providing safe and inclusive psychotherapy to clients of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.
- BIPOC-affirming and culturally responsive care, including an understanding of racism, discrimination, minority stress, intergenerational trauma, and cultural identity.
- Risk assessment and clinical judgment, including the ability to assess and respond appropriately to self-harm, suicidality, and complex clinical presentations.
- Attachment-informed and relational psychotherapy, with an emphasis on establishing and maintaining strong therapeutic alliances. Applicants should be comfortable working independently while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, clinical documentation, and ethical standards. Modalities and Therapeutic Approaches Experience or formal training in one or more of the following approaches is strongly valued:
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Particularly for emotional dysregulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and BPD-related concerns.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS): Parts work, internal conflict, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Emotional processing, attachment, and relational experiences.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Trauma processing and recovery.
- Somatic or body-based approaches: Nervous system regulation, grounding, and trauma-related physiological responses.
- Psychodynamic or attachment-based psychotherapy: Exploring longstanding relational patterns, unconscious processes, and developmental experiences.
- CBT and ACT: Adapted to complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, and identity-related difficulties. Experience with DBT and the treatment of BPD is particularly desirable, given the clinical needs of our client population. We value clinicians who integrate evidence-informed approaches with warmth, flexibility, and a strong therapeutic relationship. Who We're Looking For We are looking for a clinician who is compassionate, emotionally attuned, culturally humble, and confident working with clients experiencing complex mental health concerns. The ideal candidate:
- Is genuinely interested in working with individuals experiencing BPD, complex trauma, and attachment-related challenges.
- Is comfortable supporting clients with significant emotional distress and complex interpersonal histories.
- Demonstrates warmth, patience, strong clinical boundaries, and sound clinical judgment.
- Takes a non-stigmatizing and compassionate approach to personality disorders and trauma-related presentations.

- Values ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and clinical consultation.
- Is reliable, organized, responsive, and committed to maintaining continuity of care.
- Is interested in developing a consistent, long-term caseload within a growing private practice.
- Can commit to the required Saturday in-person schedule and Sunday evening availability as needed. We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clinicians. - At the clinic's standard associate rate of $175 per 50-minute session, the clinician receives $105 per session.
- Opportunities for compensation increases are available based on caseload growth, experience, performance, and long-term collaboration.
