Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a a passionate educator as a 0.5 FTE Introduction to Trades Teacher; who will introduce high school students to five trades: millwright, steamfitter/pipefitter, instrumentation, electrician, and scaffolder.

Teaching will take place out of our recent Heartland Skills Centre in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Commencing February 1, 2027 and ending June 29, 2027.



0.5 FTE with the possibility of FTE increase in the future Campus EIPS directly with high schools to provide career-focused education programs for students to explore real-world skills and post-secondary opportunities while still in high school.

Through hands-on learning, industry partnerships and dual-credit options, students gain valuable experience, certifications and a competitive edge in preparing for careers, employment, apprenticeships and post-secondary education.QUALIFICATIONS: Open to: Internal and external candidates who have or are eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

While a Journeyperson ticket is an asset, it isn't required—we support our classroom instruction with industry experts! What matters most is your enthusiasm, as well as:practical knowledge of the trades, knowledge of occupational health and safety is preferred, as there will be a focus on workplace and industrial safety.someone who is a "natural connector" with valuable connections to industry and the local community would be a huge advantage.

It is not necessary to be a Journeyperson.
