Overnight Mental Health Support Worker
- Every Other Weekend Oliver House | Caledon Village, Ontario Part-time | On-site Schedule: Friday, Saturday and Sunday overnights every other weekend, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Pay: $21–$22 per hour for awake hours depending on experience and $17.95 per hour for the designated sleeping portion of the shift. About Oliver House Oliver House provides supportive housing for adults living with serious mental illness. We are looking for a dependable, compassionate person to support residents with their daily routines, encourage independence and help maintain a safe, welcoming home.

About the role
This is a residential support position. You will help residents with evening and morning routines, meals, social activities and medication routines. Medication duties involve assisting residents with their prescribed, pharmacy-packaged medications and completing the required records after training. Staff do not dispense medications, give injections or perform medication duties reserved for regulated health professionals. The shift includes a designated sleeping period. Staff remain on-site and must be available to respond to resident needs and emergencies. Responsibilities
- Build respectful relationships with residents and support their dignity, privacy, choices and independence.
- Assist with bedtime and morning routines, offering reminders and practical support based on individual needs.
- Assist residents with prescribed medications according to written directions, individual support needs and the home’s procedures.
- Complete medication records accurately and promptly report refusals,



errors, observed side effects or other concerns.
- Prepare and serve evening snacks and breakfast.
- Encourage conversation, social connection and participation in simple activities.
- Complete scheduled safety checks and follow house security, fire and emergency procedures.
- Recognize and report changes in residents’ wellbeing or support needs.
- Respond calmly to distress or conflict, using verbal de-escalation and seeking help when needed.
- Document concerns, incidents and information requiring follow-up.
- Complete routine cleaning and sanitizing associated with the shift.
- Provide a clear handoff to the next staff member. Qualifications and requirements
- Experience supporting adults with mental health needs or working in a residential support setting is preferred.
- Relevant education in mental health, social services, personal support or a related field is an asset.
- A patient, respectful approach and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently, follow written procedures and recognize when additional help is needed.
- Explicit verbal and written communication and comfort using electronic communication tools.
- Availability for all three overnight shifts every other weekend.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Willingness to complete required training in medication assistance, mental health, verbal de-escalation, crisis intervention and emergency procedures. Pay: $17.93-$22.00 per hour Expected hours: 28.0 per week Work
