**Job Title: Forklift Operator
Outdoor Yard**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on operating oversized outdoor forklifts to safely pick orders and load flat deck trucks in a busy distribution yard.

You work primarily outside, handling large plastic piping products, and support the smooth flow of inventory through accurate order picking, loading, and general warehouse tasks.
**Responsibilities**
Operate oversized outdoor sit-down counterbalance forklifts safely and effectively to pick orders and load flat deck trucks in the yard.

Perform thorough daily pre-inspections of all forklift equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Accurately pick, stack, wrap, and stage outbound freight to meet warehouse productivity, quality, and safety goals.

Load and unload trucks efficiently while protecting product integrity and following safety procedures.

Maintain high housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S protocols, keeping work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.

Use RF scanners to receive, locate, and track products, ensuring accurate inventory management and stock replenishment.

Report unsafe work conditions or environmental hazards promptly so corrective action can be taken.

Handle long tubes of plastic piping, including strapping and bundling product in all weather conditions.

Work proficiently to meet established productivity, quality, and safety targets in a fast-paced environment.

Support general labor tasks as needed to keep warehouse and yard operations running smoothly.

Work with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities.
**Essential Skills**
At least 1 year of forklift experience loading and unloading trucks of similar type.

Minimum 12 months of order picking and warehouse experience.

Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain and snow.

Experience using RF scanners for receiving, locating, and tracking inventory.

Current certification on a sit-down counterbalance forklift.

Strong safety consciousness with a commitment to following safety procedures and reporting hazards.

High attention to detail when picking orders, handling product, and completing documentation.

Ability to perform ongoing physical activities, including standing for long periods and handling large products.

Capability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience operating outdoor forklifts, ideally in the 10,00015,000+ lb capacity range.

Previous experience in non-union warehouse or yard environments.

Comfort working both inside the warehouse and outdoors for certain picks.

**Work Environment**
This is a short-term contract role, typically 13 months, with potential to extend long-term for high-performing talent.

The position is non-union and based in a busy distribution center with an outdoor yard.

You operate oversized outdoor forklifts with enclosed cabs that are heated and air-conditioned, but you frequently exit the cab to strap and bundle product in all weather conditions, including rain and snow.

The work involves ongoing physical activity and the ability to stay on your feet for long periods.

Some order picks occur outdoors, so you need to be prepared for varying work conditions.

The environment is fast-paced and continually changing, requiring strong multitasking skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

The dress code includes safety-toe work boots (STWB), and you should bring your own outdoor gear as needed for weather protection.

The standard shift runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with regular opportunities for overtime.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
