Marine Atlantic seeks a Third Officer with navigational watchkeeping and vessel safety expertise for year-round ferry operations. Work onboard vessels from Newfoundland and Nova Scotia ports.

This permanent spare and relief position reports to the Chief Officer across Marine Atlantic’s fleet. You will supervise loading, unloading, and mooring operations while supporting emergency preparedness. The position also involves bridge security, ramp operations, and safety documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Keep a navigational watch onboard assigned vessels
- Supervise loading, unloading, and mooring operations
- Complete assigned job cards and maintain preparedness records
- Participate in emergency, security, and safety drills
- Open and close ramps and hull openings in port

Requirements:

- Hold Watchkeeping Mate certification or higher
- Maintain required STCW 95 certifications
- Hold FRC and Bridge Resource Management qualifications
- Complete Transport Canada approved medical examination
- Work in confined spaces and lift 10 kilograms
