Company Description

Headquartered in Montreal, Detroit and Munich, Vention helps manufacturers automate their operations in record time with the only hardware and software AI-powered platform built for the factory floor. Our technology powers over 25,000 machines across 4,000 factories across 5 continents and we have the privilege to work with a significant proportion of Fortune 500 manufacturers, from space rockets, to electrical cars, to robotics.

At Vention, you’ll work alongside driven and talented people who care deeply about their craft and the impact they create. We’re a team of high achievers who grow through meaningful work, solving complex challenges, learning fast, and seeing the results of our efforts every day.

We move quickly and aim high, but we do it together with care, collaboration, and respect. Our culture celebrates diverse perspectives and supports your growth through intentional development, robust leadership, and opportunities to make a real difference.

What You’ll Do

- Design, develop, and integrate robotic and automation systems for real client applications, owning your solutions end to end.
- Write and maintain software and automation logic with a strong emphasis on clean, modular, maintainable implementations.
- Build Python-based tools, scripts, and services for automation, testing, configuration, and system orchestration — and look for places where positive tooling can save the whole team time.
- Support integration, testing, and commissioning of machines and production systems, both in-house and on-site.
- Partner closely with internal teams and customers to clarify requirements, manage trade-offs,

and deliver solutions that hold up in the real world.
- Act as a go‑to resource for hard cross‑disciplinary problems, sharing what you learn so the whole team levels up.
- Spot gaps and act on them — identify where our processes, tooling, or architecture are holding us back, and drive the improvements without waiting to be asked.
- Champion new approaches, technologies, and tools (including AI/ML where it adds real value), and run small experiments to prove out what’s worth scaling.
- Take on the ambiguous, “no one’s solved this yet” problems and turn them into repeatable solutions.

What You Bring to the Table

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience with industrial automation, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with industrial robots (e.g., UR, FANUC, ABB, KUKA) and/or PLC programming and controls system design (Siemens TIA Portal, Studio 5000, or similar).
- A strong problem-solving mindset and genuine comfort with open-ended technical challenges.
- Working experience with:
- Python (automation scripts, tools, or system logic)
- GitHub (version control and collaboration workflows)
- Solid software engineering practices (modular code, debugging, documentation)
- AI pipelines to accelerate programming

- Hands‑on experience with industrial automation or electromechanical systems.
- Comfortable working in Linux‑based environments or embedded/industrial systems.

Nice to Have:

- Robotics integration, motion control, or machine vision systems.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, or code generation.
- Experience with system commissioning, FAT/SAT, or on‑site deployment.
- Interest in applying AI / machine learning to automation or process optimization.
- Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.
