This technologist installs, maintains, tests, and repairs telecommunications, electrical apparatus, and protective equipment. The work supports generation, transmission, distribution, substations, and terminal stations. It includes telecontrol systems, power quality analysis, and radio frequency interference assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct scheduled, investigative, and emergent electrical apparatus tests
- Install, test, and commission communication and protective schemes
- Troubleshoot complex protective relaying schemes and corrective actions




- Compile telecommunications and relay characteristic test data
- Provide technical expertise and training to workforce members

Requirements:

- Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Technology
- Journeyman Electrical Tradesman or Power System Electrician qualification
- Practical generating, substation, or terminal station equipment experience
- Solid computer background and electrical testing equipment experience
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
