We are a small, family-run business looking for a dependable, hands-on Building Caretaker to help look after our award-winning heritage building. We take pride in keeping the place in good shape and are looking for someone who notices the little things and enjoys practical work.
What you will do
- Keep an eye on the buildings and shared areas, and let us know when something needs attention.
- Take care of everyday maintenance and small repairs, such as fixing a step or fence, patching drywall, touch-up painting and minor shed repairs.
- Help with tenant changeovers and basic upkeep of older buildings and fixtures.
- Arrange service visits with our preferred contractors when needed, and let the family know about urgent issues.
- Keep a simple record of work completed and any items that need follow-up.
A good fit for this role
- You are practical, reliable and careful with your work, and you take pride in good craftsmanship.
- You have experience with building upkeep or hands-on maintenance. Familiarity with older or heritage homes is a plus.
- You can handle a range of everyday tasks. Experience with a couple of these areas would be helpful: basic plumbing, carpentry, drywall or plaster, painting, roofing, or building systems such as boilers and laundry facilities.
- You communicate clearly, work well with a small team, and know when a job should be referred to a qualified trade professional.
Hours: Flexible, approximately 20-40 hours per week. Full-time hours may be available, but are not required.
Work style: Hands-on caretaker role with support from our small team.
