OS&D; Clerk / Freight Claims Clerk

Pay: $22.03 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Day Shift)

About the Role

Protrans Personnel Services is hiring a full-time OS&D; Clerk (OSD / Overages, Shortages and Damages Clerk) for a busy transportation and logistics terminal in Concord, ON. You'll investigate and resolve freight claims, track down missing or damaged shipments, and coordinate with drivers, dock workers and customers. This is mainly an office role, with regular visits to the dock floor. It suits someone detail-oriented who stays organized under pressure.

Responsibilities

- Investigate and resolve overage, shortage and damage (OS&D;) claims
- Handle customer claims, requests and inquiries by phone and email
- Coordinate OS&D; and salvage activity with other terminals
- Communicate with dock workers, drivers and supervisors to locate freight and resolve issues
- Visit the dock floor to coordinate with forklift operators and hand over bills and paperwork as needed
- Complete daily paperwork, including refusal tags, salvage bills, PROs and PODs
- Support dock checks and help verify freight details for investigations
- Track shipments, follow up on freight exceptions and support the customer service and dispatch teams
- Enter and update shipment and claim information accurately in the system

Requirements

- Minimum 1 year of experience as an OS&D; Clerk, Claims Clerk, Freight Clerk, Shipping and Receiving Clerk, Logistics Clerk, Claims Administrator,



Customer Service Representative or Office Clerk with freight or logistics exposure
- Experience in transportation, trucking, freight or LTL is a strong asset
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and data entry
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Comfortable walking on an active dock floor and following safety rules
- Must wear safety boots and a safety vest when on the dock
- Must pass a background check
