Accounting Plus is currently looking for a full time Staff Accountant to join our growing, collaborative, tech-forward public accounting firm.

This role is best suited for an experienced public accounting professional who is confident in Canadian tax and accounting work, comfortable managing their own workload, and interested in working in a modern, flexible workplace.

Responsibilities

- Preparation of Canadian personal (T1), corporate (T2) and (T3) trust tax returns
- Preparation of GST/HST/PST/QST, Payroll, T-Slips (T4, T4A, T5, T3 etc…), WSIB & EHT filing and remittance
- Full-cycle accounting
- Assisting with the timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, including variance analysis
- Tax accounting, including quarterly and annual tax reconciliations
- Handling CRA correspondence, including pre- and post-assessment reviews
- Participation in tax planning projects
- Researching tax-related issues and legislation
- Assisting with government tax audits, including analysis, information gathering, and responses

Requirements

- 1+ years of experience with Canadian tax legislation and CRA filing
- Strong hands-on experience with Canadian personal and corporate tax
- Experience working with small and medium-sized businesses
- Ability to manage deadlines and workload independently
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Tech-savvy and open to improving workflows (including adopting new tools and AI)
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year

Education:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:

- Canadian corporate income tax: 2 years (preferred)
- public accounting: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- CPA, CGA, CA (preferred)
