Summary: The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and snow clearing of company buildings, properties, and grounds to ensure they remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. The position also identifies maintenance issues and safety hazards, reports concerns, and coordinates specialized repairs when required. This is a part-time position with a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be required based on operational needs, maintenance, and snow clearing requirements.

Responsibilities:

· Perform minor carpentry, painting, plastering, and general building and property repairs.

· Replace light bulbs and perform minor lighting repairs, where authorized and qualified. Identify electrical issues and arrange for a licensed electrician when required.

· Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs to plumbing fixtures, including toilets and faucets. Identify plumbing issues requiring the services of a licensed plumber.

· Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and property to identify maintenance needs, damage, and potential safety hazards.

· Identify and address maintenance issues and carry out preventative maintenance activities to maintain the safe and efficient operation of facilities and equipment.

· Operate a pickup truck equipped with a snowplow to clear snow from driveways, parking areas, walkways, and other designated areas, as required.

· Perform general labour duties, including shovelling, sanding, moving materials and furniture, and maintaining clean and orderly work areas.

· Use and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and in accordance with established procedures.

· Follow established health and safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and promptly report unsafe conditions.

· Report maintenance concerns, equipment deficiencies,



and safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor and recommend repairs or further action when required.

· Maintain basic records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

· Clear code of conduct.

· Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, and general repair techniques.

· Ability to identify maintenance issues, perform routine inspections, and complete preventative maintenance tasks.

· Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and a pickup truck equipped with a snowplow.

· Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting and moving materials, shovelling, sanding, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

· Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

· Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, reliability, and effective communication skills.

· Ability to recognize work that requires a licensed or qualified tradesperson and refer such work appropriately.

· Willingness to obtain additional training or certifications as required by the position.

Assets:

· Previous experience in general maintenance, building repairs, property maintenance, or a related field is considered an asset.

· Availability to respond to occasional after-hours maintenance or winter weather requirements, if required.
