About the Role

JS Foster Corporation is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented General Accountant to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will support three core operating divisions by managing day-to-day accounting, full-cycle accounts payable, and payroll. The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $85,000 per year (Based on experience and skills)

Key Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle accounts payable across three operating divisions, including invoice processing, coding, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
- Process full-cycle payroll, ensuring accurate statutory deductions, timely tax remittances, and year-end reporting.
- Oversee accounts receivable, customer invoicing, and collection efforts for the machine shop division.
- Perform timely bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain an accurate general ledger.
- Prepare and file GST/PST returns and other required government filings on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online, ProShop and a few other software programs to maintain comprehensive financial records.




- Investigate ledger discrepancies and proactively identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows.
- Provide financial accounting and administrative support as required.

Qualifications & Skills

- Proven experience in full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and payroll compliance regulations.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-starter capable of managing competing priorities and strict deadlines independently.
- Experience within the manufacturing industry is considered a strong asset.
- Hands-on familiarity with ProShop ERP software is an asset.
- CPA designation or active enrollment in a CPA program is an asset.
