Overview

The Montessori Lead Guide leads a prepared, respectful, and engaging Montessori environment that supports each child’s independence, development, and love of learning. The role requires strong Montessori knowledge, classroom leadership, and a commitment to WKM’s authentic Montessori philosophy and bilingual Chinese-English curriculum.

Qualifications:

- Montessori training from a recognized centre (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited).
- Alberta ECE certification, Level 1 or above, as required.
- 3–5 years of Montessori classroom experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Valid Child Care First Aid/CPR and required food safety certification.
- Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Language Requirement: Fluency in written and spoken English. Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and maintain an orderly, purposeful Montessori environment.
- Observe children and provide appropriate presentations that support independence, concentration, and holistic development.




- Lead classroom practices and guide assistants in maintaining consistent Montessori standards.
- Mentor new Guides, Guides in Training, and classroom assistants.
- Document children’s progress and communicate professionally with families.
- Collaborate with the Program Director on curriculum implementation, including WKM’s Chinese language curriculum.
- Maintain children’s safety and well-being while following WKM policies and Alberta licensing requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, career development, and school events.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Working Conditions: Active Montessori classroom with regular contact with young children.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
