Express is seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Operator to join our reputable clients manufacturing team in south east Calgary. This role involves operating manual lathes and related machinery to produce precision components according to detailed specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, proficiency in blueprint reading, and experience with various machining tools and techniques. Responsibilities

- Operate manual lathes and CNC lathe machines to produce parts with high precision.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to determine machining requirements.
- Set up and adjust machine tools, including calipers and other hand tools, for accurate machining.
- Perform basic CNC programming using Mazatrol or Fanuc controls as needed.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow.
- Assist with assembly, welding, or other manufacturing processes as required.
- Use power tools, hand tools, and forklift equipment safely within the production environment.

Skills





- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Experience with CNC programming, particularly Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.
- Mechanical knowledge of machining processes, including CNC milling machines and manual lathes.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programs.
- Ability to operate CNC lathe machines efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Robust understanding of basic math for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing best practices, including lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and forklift trucks safely.
- Experience in assembly processes and working with various machining tools is preferred but not mandatory.
