Lola’s Filipino Kitchen is a family-owned business serving Filipino food to our community through takeout and catering. We’re looking for an experienced cook who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in preparing great food and is excited to learn.

You don’t need to have experience cooking Filipino food to join us. If you have solid cooking experience, strong knife skills and a willingness to learn our recipes and techniques, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

No two days in our kitchen look exactly the same. Catering orders change from day to day, so you may spend one shift preparing large batches of food and another assembling individual takeout bowls or catering items that require careful portioning, plating and attention to detail.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, can adapt as priorities change and is comfortable working in a busy, hands-on kitchen. If you prefer a predictable routine where every day follows the same schedule, this may not be the right fit.

What you’ll do

- Prepare and cook food for daily takeout and catering orders.
- Follow Lola’s recipes and preparation methods to maintain consistent quality and flavour.
- Prepare ingredients using safe and efficient knife skills and food preparation techniques.
- Cook food in large batches while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Assemble, portion and plate individual meals and catering items with care and attention to detail.




- Adjust your priorities throughout the day based on catering orders and kitchen needs.
- Work with the kitchen team to ensure orders are prepared accurately and on time.
- Check ingredients for freshness and quality, and help monitor inventory.
- Keep workstations, equipment and kitchen areas clean and organized.
- Follow food safety, sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Help with other kitchen duties as needed.

What we’re looking for

- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, catering kitchen or similar food service setting.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of general food preparation and cooking methods.
- A willingness to learn Filipino dishes, ingredients and Lola’s recipes.
- Ability to manage your time and work efficiently in a busy kitchen.
- Flexibility to switch between tasks and adapt to changing daily orders.
- Attention to detail, including portioning, presentation and order accuracy.
- A positive attitude, explicit communication and a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and carry kitchen supplies as required.
- Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain it.

An asset, but not required

- Experience cooking Filipino food or familiarity with Filipino ingredients.
- Experience with catering or large-batch cooking.
- Experience preparing and plating individual takeout meals.
