Role Profile

Position: Field Service Specialist

Job Location: Oshawa, Ontario

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role

This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties to customize belts and rubber components to customer requirements, and supervising other associates on the job. This role reports to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

- Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
- Perform service and maintenance work on customer conveyor systems
- Performs duties to fabricate, install, vulcanize and repair heavyweight conveyor belting and other rubber products
- Detect and report defective equipment or material, improper operations and unusual conditions to management
- Interface with the customer to ensure satisfaction in every aspect of the job
- Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition
- Makes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvements




- Completes all required safety training within required timeframes
- Works as part of the Service Centre Warehouse (Production Tech) team when not required in the field;
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with the Associate Handbook and company policies governing associate conduct

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work overtime hours and weekend work when required

- Ability to travel to out-of-town jobs
- Safety Compliance: Associates in this position must be extremely passionate about safety and willing to comply and promote all related safety procedures and policies.
- Possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with customers, and team-members in a professional manner
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Basic mechanical skills including the use of hand tools.
- Basic computer skills including; MS Word, Excel, internet and email.

Qualifications

- 2-5 years of experience as field technician in conveyor belt/rubber industry;
- Warehousing or production experience in an industrial setting is an asset
- A high school diploma with minimum 3 years work experience;
- A valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record are required.
