Join the front-of-house team at Hopcott Farms’ busy farm-to-table Bistro.

We’re looking for a friendly and dependable Bistro Counter & Customer Service Team Member who enjoys working with people and serving great local food.

This is a permanent, part-time daytime position at our Pitt Meadows farm market. In this role, you’ll take customer orders, prepare coffee and Bistro menu items, operate the till, and help provide the warm, welcoming service Hopcott Farms is known for.

The successful candidate must be available Sunday, Monday, and Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and have some flexibility to cover additional shifts when needed.

The Bistro Front Clerk's Responsibilities Include:

- Greet and serve customers promptly and with a smile, prepare coffee, soups, and baked goods.
- Prepare and assemble paninis by slicing meats, portioning ingredients, and maintaining strict compliance with all food safety and sanitation protocols.
- Take orders, run the till, and handle to-go orders efficiently.
- Ensure food quality and safety standards are met; assist with food prep and baking tasks.
- Keep bistro stocked, organized, and clean throughout the day, including tables, patio, and washrooms.
- Open and close the bistro, preparing service areas and managing basic maintenance tasks.
- Be knowledgeable about menu items, specials, farm products, and sustainability practices to assist customers.

- A positive, friendly, and proactive attitude; able to handle busy periods and resolve customer concerns.
- Strong communication skills and ability to take direction.
- Self-starting work ethic with an upbeat, positive approach.
- Food Secure and Serving It Right Certification is required; candidates must be willing to obtain certification prior to hiring.
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience is considered an asset.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

- Work comfortably in a cool retail environment, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
- Safely handle hot and cold-water during food preparation and cleaning tasks.
- Use knives, cutting tools, and deli slicers safely and accurately.
- Perform medium duty lifting of up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Remain active on your feet throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Regularly bend, crouch, and move as required to complete daily tasks efficiently.

Pay: $18.50-$19.50 per hour
