Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic

H2Oil Energy Inc. is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic for our Grande Prairie shop. This position maintains and repairs our fleet of highway tractors, tank trailers, Combo Vac units and Hydrovac units.

We are looking for an experienced technician who works safely, diagnoses problems accurately and takes pride in returning equipment to service properly.

Schedule and work area

This is an in-person position based at our Grande Prairie shop. The role follows 10 days on and 4 days off scheduled rotation. Additional hours may be available or required depending on fleet maintenance and operational needs.

What you’ll do

- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair highway tractors, tank trailers, Combo Vac units, Hydrovac units and related fleet equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance, scheduled servicing and repairs identified through inspections or operator reports
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, air, hydraulic, pneumatic, steering, suspension, brake and driveline systems
- Use manuals, schematics and diagnostic equipment to identify faults and complete repairs
- Test repaired equipment and confirm it is safe and ready to return to service
- Complete work orders, inspection records and maintenance documentation accurately
- Communicate repair status, equipment concerns and parts requirements to operators, supervisors and maintenance personnel
- Maintain a clean,



organized and safe shop and work area

Required qualifications

- Alberta Journeyperson certificate in Heavy Equipment Technician
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing heavy highway trucks and commercial trailers
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and quality repairs
- Ability to read technical information and complete maintenance records accurately
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with operators, supervisors and coworkers
- Comfort using computerized diagnostic equipment and digital maintenance systems
- Ability to perform the physical work associated with maintaining heavy trucks, trailers and specialized equipment
- Ability to satisfy H2Oil's pre-employment screening requirements

Preferred qualifications

- Red Seal endorsement
- Experience maintaining tank trailers, Combo Vac, Hydrovac, vacuum-pump or fluid-hauling equipment
- Solid diesel-engine, emissions, electrical and electronic diagnostic experience
- Hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum-system experience
- Alberta Vehicle Inspection Program qualification or commercial vehicle inspection experience
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Previous oilfield or fleet-maintenance experience
- Organized work habits, dependable attendance and most importantly a positive attitude
