Mid-Tier Systems Technician — Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion & Intercoms

About the Role:

Tri West is looking for a Systems Technician who's past the learning-the-ropes stage and ready to run jobs independently across the Lower Mainland. You'll be trusted with your own schedule, your own van, and direct relationships with clients, new construction, retrofits, commercial and residential. Most work is local, with occasional out-of-town jobs (typically a few days to a week) when projects call for it. Unlike a lot of shops in this trade, you're paid on salary here, not hourly, so your paycheque doesn't swing with a slow week or a light month. This isn't a one-task role; you'll work across access control, CCTV, intrusion, and intercom systems, and you'll be the face of the company on every job site.

What You'll Do:

Install, program, and commission access control, intrusion alarm, CCTV/video surveillance, and intercom/enter phone systems

Troubleshoot system issues on-site and find workable solutions when a job doesn't go exactly to plan

Run service calls, inspections, and maintenance visits for existing clients

Walk clients through their systems after install so they're confident using them, you're the last person they talk to before the job is "done" in their eyes

Keep explicit documentation: what was installed, where, and what was discussed with the client

Communicate job status and any issues back to the office/Project Managers

Build relationships with clients that lead to repeat work and referrals

Be available for occasional out-of-town project work (typically a few days to a week, infrequent)

What You Bring:

Must-Haves:

Valid BC Security Alarm Installer License (or eligible to obtain one)

Clean BC Class 5 Driver's License

Ability to pass a criminal background check





2+ years of hands-on experience with access control, CCTV, intrusion, or related low-voltage systems

Your own basic hand tools

Comfortable being the main point of contact with clients — this is a client-facing role first

Able to work independently and make sound calls on-site without someone standing over your shoulder

Nice-to-Haves:

Vendor certifications in access control, CCTV, or intrusion platforms

Familiarity with brands such as DSC, Honeywell, Axis, Hanwha, Genetec, Salto, or ICT

Basic networking/IP knowledge (TCP/IP, switches, Cat5e/6 cabling)

Post-secondary training in electronics or a related field
