Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Job Duties:

- Responsible for day-to-day for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs that meet a diverse population of residents.
- Ensures that every resident is involved in identified recreational activities in order to meet the goals of the resident's recreational treatment plan. Leads, instructs, and motivates residents in individual and group leisure pursuits.
- Setup and organize equipment needed for specific program(s), and oversee residents involved by encouraging participation.
- Ability to follow safety policy and protocol in the community with residents and volunteers.
- Effective and professional communication skills with all facility departments.
- Record and discuss residents' participation levels in programs.
- Escort, transport, assist residents to and from programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Therapeutic Recreation diploma or degree.



Other related degrees in Recreation or Gerontology with experience in related roles may be considered.
- Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (preferred).
- Experience working in Long Term Care is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team building skills.
- Food handling & safety certificate.
- Additional training & certifications applicable to long term care considered an asset (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention; Gentle Persuasive Approach; Montessori, etc.).
