Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly, dependable Liquor Store Clerk to provide helpful customer service and support daily store operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable with retail sales, cashiering, and merchandising, and can communicate clearly with a diverse range of customers. This role requires following all applicable laws and store procedures for the sale of age-restricted products.

Duties

- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide attentive, professional customer service.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, process purchases, and handle cash and other payment methods accurately.
- Use basic math to verify transactions, provide correct change, and assist with routine register tasks.
- Support retail sales by learning the store’s products and helping customers make informed selections.
- Recommend relevant products and use appropriate upselling techniques without pressuring customers.
- Conduct product demonstrations or explain product features when appropriate and permitted by store policy.
- Stock shelves, organize displays, check product presentation, and assist with merchandising.
- Keep the sales floor, checkout area, and displays clean, orderly, and well maintained.




- Answer store calls using qualified phone etiquette and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Follow store procedures for verifying customer eligibility and handling age-restricted sales.
- Coordinate tasks with coworkers and help maintain an organized, welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
- Experience in retail sales, cashiering, cash handling, or a customer-facing role is preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic technology sales is helpful; technical sales experience is a plus.
- Comfortable learning product information and assisting with product demos where appropriate.
- Basic math skills and the ability to process transactions accurately.
- Good time management, attention to detail, and a dependable approach to assigned tasks.
- Professional phone etiquette and a courteous, respectful manner with customers and coworkers.
- Willingness to follow store policies, safety practices, and applicable requirements for selling age-restricted products.

Pay: From $18.25 per hour
