We are looking for a dedicated Lead Carpenter to join our team and uphold our high standards on-site.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Carpenter oversees in office carpentry and day-to-day physical progress for our renovation and custom home projects. In this role, you will perform skilled rough and finish carpentry, execute tasks according to the established project schedule, direct the daily work of other carpenters and apprentices, and ensure all work is completed safely, to specification, and within budget. You will report directly to the Construction Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform skilled residential carpentry tasks including demolition, layout, framing, window/door installation, trim, cabinetry, millwork, and exterior carpentry.
- Execute daily and weekly carpentry tasks in alignment with the project schedule provided by management.
- Communicate clearly with on-site subcontractors, providing them with technical layout direction and ensuring their work aligns with project plans.
- Assign on-site tasks, inspect workmanship, and provide guidance to assistant carpenters and apprentices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and residential project specifications.
- Prepare material lists, communicate procurement needs, and verify site deliveries.
- Conduct quality control checks throughout construction and prepare final deficiency punch lists.




- Maintain a clean, secure, and safe job site, ensuring total protection of finishes in occupied client homes.
- Communicate professionally with clients on site and route all scope or change requests through the Construction Manager.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress tracking, and photos using JobTread.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification, or equivalent valid trade qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in residential construction and carpentry, with specific experience working in occupied homes.
- Proven experience leading a crew or acting in a supervisory capacity on a residential job site.
- Advanced working knowledge of residential building codes and safety regulations.
- Strong communication, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency or willingness to learn JobTread.
- Physical capability to perform demanding on-site labour in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal transportation.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Competitive hourly wage: $38.00–$43.00 per hour, depending on experience.
