Urbam Quarry's team is expanding.

The Polisher is responsible for polishing natural stone countertops and other surfaces for residential and commercial applications. This role includes cleaning and preparing work areas, performing polishing tasks, and assisting with installations as required. The Polisher will utilize various craft skills, including masonry, carpentry, and general construction knowledge, while operating a variety of power and hand tools. This position is ideal for a motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Polishing & Finishing

- Grind, scrape, sand, and polish stone surfaces using abrasive tools and machines. Position, join, and align quartz and granite components.
- Mix and apply compounds for cleaning and finishing surfaces.
- Maintain high-quality finishing standards for all polished materials.

Material Handling & Equipment Maintenance

- Load, unload, and distribute building materials, tools, and machinery as per project requirements.
- Lubricate, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Ensure an adequate supply of materials is available for maintenance and production.

Operations & Workflow Management

- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine polishing activities.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Update workflow status in Moraware software.
- Maintain daily activity logs for management review.
- Assist in keeping the shop clean and organized to eliminate potential hazards.

Health & Safety Compliance





- Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines and safe lifting procedures.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., safety boots, protective eyewear).
- Ensure compliance with Urban Quarry’s health, safety, and operational policies.

Other Responsibilities

- Support preventive maintenance programs as needed.
- Follow all management directives and company policies.

- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

- Ability to safely and effectively operate required polishing equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of tools and machines, including their uses, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of workplace safety, lifting, and handling procedures.
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while following a structured work schedule.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Basic mathematical and analytical skills for material and labor estimates.
- Solid teamwork and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.




- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Adaptability to changing work environments and project requirements.

Preferred:

- 1+ year of experience as a Water Polisher or in a related construction or manufacturing field.
- Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Ability to create sketches to communicate project details.
- Bilingual (English & French) is an asset.

Working Conditions

- Exposure to water, cold, heat, humidity, dust, and fumes.
- Regular work near moving machinery.
- Handling heavy materials, tools, and equipment.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
- Requires physical endurance for prolonged standing and repetitive tasks.
- Exposure to hazards associated with the construction industry.
