LDDI is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Research Nurse to support the delivery of clinical research studies within our gastroenterology and IBD programs. This role combines clinical nursing responsibilities with the coordination and conduct of clinical trials, ensuring that participants receive safe, high-quality care while studies are conducted in accordance with approved protocols, Valuable Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
Working closely with Principal Investigators, Sub-Investigators, the research team, and other clinical staff, the Research Nurse will be involved in participant assessment, study visits, protocol-specific procedures, clinical documentation, safety monitoring, and the day-to-day execution of clinical research activities. - Perform protocol-required clinical procedures, assessments, specimen collection, and medication or investigational product administration, as authorized and within scope of practice.
- Monitor participant safety, provide study-related education and support, and promptly document and escalate adverse events, protocol deviations, and other clinical concerns.
- Coordinate assigned clinical trials from start-up through close-out, including feasibility, site activation,
regulatory submissions, participant scheduling, and coordination of protocol-required procedures and investigations.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical source documentation, regulatory records, and electronic data capture entries, including responding to data queries within required timelines.
- Ensure study activities comply with approved protocols, ICH-GCP, applicable regulatory requirements, and LDDI policies and procedures.
- Support sponsor monitoring visits, audits, inspections, and quality reviews, working collaboratively with investigators, participants, sponsors, and the broader clinical team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Nursing degree or diploma from a recognized institution.
- Previous clinical nursing experience; clinical research experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopy, infusion therapy, or clinical trials is an asset.
- Working knowledge of ICH-GCP, Health Canada clinical trial requirements, REB processes, and research documentation standards, or demonstrated willingness to complete required training.
- Experience with electronic data capture systems, electronic medical records, and clinical research documentation is an asset.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, investigators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, sound judgment, discretion, and a commitment to participant safety and research integrity.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative, evolving clinical research environment.
- Flexibility to support study requirements, occasional travel, and changing operational priorities.
