Purpose:

The Manager of Fundraising & Donor Relations supports the CEO and the Foundation’s fundraising efforts by managing day-to-day fundraising activities, donor relations, communications, and administrative processes. The role is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of MTR Foundation’s fundraising, donor relations, grants and communications plan.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Relations:

- Support the Foundation’s day-to-day fundraising activities and initiatives.

- Build and maintain positive relationships with donors and prospects including individuals, churches, businesses, foundations, and community supporters.

- Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, with a primary focus on major gifts along with smaller gifts as well.

- Follow up with prospective and existing donors and ensure timely and appropriate communication.

- Develop annual giving, monthly giving, special appeals, sponsorships, fundraising events, donor appreciation initiatives and other fundraising initiatives.

- Prepare donor communications, proposals, letters, impact reports, presentations, and other fundraising materials.

- Assist the CEO with major donor opportunities by researching prospects and preparing donor profiles, briefing notes, meeting materials, proposals, and follow-up. Attend Donor meetings with the CEO and with volunteers.

- Track donor commitments and ensure appropriate follow-up and stewardship.

- Research and pursue grant opportunities across provincial, federal, and foundation sources. With the CEO establish and work towards annual grant and giving goals.

- Research corporations and foundations and identify opportunities for corporate sponsorships.

Donor Stewardship & Communications:

- Manage regular donor communications, thank you letters and impact reports/updates.

- Build long-term relationships with donors and increase donor retention and support.

- Research and pursue grant opportunities across provincial, federal,



and foundation sources. With the CEO establish and work towards annual grant and giving goals.

- Research corporations and foundations and identify opportunities for corporate sponsorships.

Brand Building:

- Be an active brand champion, increasing MTR Foundation’s brand awareness and public reputation.

- Build and execute the Foundation’s annual marketing and communications plan, including social media content and regular posting.

- Represent the Foundation at a variety of public and private community events and securing positive media coverage for the Foundation. Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with donors, church partners, ministry supporters, foundations, businesses, and community stakeholders.

- Work with the CEO & Board members to create and plan annual giving opportunities

Board & Leadership Engagement:

- Provide the Board and CEO with regular fundraising updates, reports and recommendations.

- Track donor activity, monitor portfolio health, and report on revenue goals.

- Foster a culture of philanthropy, working across departments and encouraging cross-departmental collaboration and support.

- Support the CEO and leadership team with fundraising projects and special initiatives as required.

Communications and Campaigns:

- Develop fundraising communications, including donor appeals, proposals, impact reports, newsletters, annual giving campaigns, seasonal appeals, capital campaigns, and special ministry campaigns and presentations.

- Ensure donors and donor prospects receive timely acknowledgements, updates, and meaningful information about the impact of their support with regular communications as directed by the CEO/Board.

- Monitor and present regular campaign progress reports to the CEO and Board and mobilize resources to advance campaign activities.

- Support the Foundation’s community outreach, communications, marketing, social media, media, and campaign strategies, create the annual plan with the CEO and assess its effectiveness.

- Assist the CEO & Director and Board to increase their regional and national networking capabilities and to advance the campaign and community engagement goals.

- Evaluate fundraising activities based on revenue, donor engagement, and return on investment.





- Develop pitch materials, proposals, presentations, briefing materials and other fundraising materials.

- Lead the initiative of tell the story of MTR Foundation’s impact and communicate the difference donors are making.

Fundraising Operations:

- Work with Finance Team to prepare Foundation financial reports and annual budget reviews.

- Manage the organization’s CRM/donor database (Keela) ensuring accurate data entry, segmentation, and reporting.

- Follow Finance team guidelines to ensure that compliance with the Canada Revenue Agency receipting regulations and required documentation is maintained.

- Maintain proper documentation related to donor details, fundraising & campaign expenses. Establish efficient fundraising processes and systems.

- Demonstrated ability in progressive fundraising, securing philanthropic revenue.

- Experience with major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships or institutional fundraising. Ability to identify, cultivate new donors and retain existing donors.

- Excellent communication skills including ability to participate in public campaigns.

- Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit fundraising individually and as a team.

- Stakeholder management - ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualification:

- University degree or educational equivalent in business management, non-profit management or communications.

- Progressive years of experience in fundraising, gift planning, and donor relations, with a track record of securing gifts.

- Knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency regulations as they pertain to philanthropy, estate planning, and gifting.

- General accounting knowledge and experience with fundraising software like Keela would be an asset.

- Valid BC Driver’s License and access to own car, ability to travel throughout the Lower Mainland.

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
