Helm Operations Software

Canada

Base salary: $85,000 – $105,000 CAD

Remote – Canada | Full-Time

At Helm Operations, we build the software that keeps the world’s maritime operations moving. From tugboats in Vancouver Harbour to offshore service vessels in the North Sea, our customers run their businesses with Helm CONNECT. And we don’t take that lightly.

We’ve grown from a small start-up on Canada’s west coast into a global leader serving many of the world’s largest maritime companies. Our mission is simple: deliver software that connects the marine industry like no other technology company.

But world-class software doesn’t happen by accident. It takes tough teams, ownership, and deep care for customers. That’s The Helm Way.

Now, we’re looking for an Implementation Specialist who can turn complex technology into real-world results. Ideally, you bring maritime industry experience, understand the challenges our customers face, and enjoy helping businesses work smarter.

Your Mission

As an Implementation Specialist, you'll help maritime companies successfully implement Helm CONNECT and get real value from their investment.

You'll work directly with customers to understand their operations, configure solutions, troubleshoot challenges, and deliver training from implementation through go-live. More than a software specialist, you'll be a trusted advisor, helping customers improve their processes and operational performance.

Working alongside Project Managers, Developers, and fellow Implementation Specialists, you'll take ownership of your deliverables and help ensure successful customer outcomes.

You Will

- Partner with Project Managers to plan and deliver successful Helm CONNECT implementations, meeting agreed timelines, milestones, and quality standards.
- Gather and document customer requirements, configure software and data, and ensure solutions support their operational needs.
- Understand maritime workflows across vessel operations, maintenance, compliance, logistics, and personnel management to recommend practical improvements.
- Deliver customer training, workshops, and demonstrations remotely and onsite, helping customers confidently adopt Helm CONNECT.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues, perform quality assurance testing, and support customers through go-live.
- Identify opportunities for additional products, services, or training that create value for customers.
- Collaborate with Skilled Services, Product, Development, and Support teams, including documenting requirements for custom development.
- Proactively communicate project progress, risks, and challenges while maintaining accurate documentation, customer records, and time entries.
- Share knowledge and best practices to continuously improve how we deliver implementations.

You Bring

- 5+ years of experience implementing complex operational software, enterprise systems, or SaaS solutions.
- Maritime industry experience strongly preferred, particularly in workboat operations, harbour docking, barging, fleet management, vessel maintenance, or marine logistics.

- Strong technical aptitude in software configuration, data management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Experience gathering business requirements, consulting with customers, and translating operational needs into practical solutions.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadlines.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with confidence navigating challenging situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- A university degree, college diploma, or relevant technical accreditation.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, primarily across North America, with occasional international travel.

Bonus Points

- Direct experience working for a maritime operator or implementing maritime software.
- Knowledge of maritime safety, compliance, maintenance, logistics, or vessel operations.
- Experience with ERP or fleet management systems.
- Project management training or PMI certification.
- Experience delivering software training or supporting organizational change.
- Spanish language proficiency.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 Days

- Become certified in Helm CONNECT's four core product lines: Maintenance, Compliance, Logistics, and Personnel.
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams while developing a solid understanding of maritime operations.
- Take ownership of implementation activities for a complex customer, managing requirements, configuration, and delivery milestones.

Beyond 90 Days

- Independently deliver successful implementations on time, within scope, and to customer expectations.
- Help customers achieve measurable value from Helm CONNECT while maintaining robust satisfaction scores.
- Meet billable utilization targets and contribute to quarterly and annual performance goals.
- Become a trusted customer advisor and help improve Helm's implementation processes through shared knowledge and best practices.
