Pay Rate: $18.75 per hour

Schedule: Evening shifts

Site Overview

Located in the Lake Cowichan area, this role supports local sports events and community venues. It offers an active work environment where you can stay on your feet, interact with the public, and ensure a protected, welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Security Guard, you will keep facilities secure while delivering helpful customer service. Your daily responsibilities include:

- Providing assistance to clients, patrons, and guests while building positive community relationships.

- Performing foot patrols to secure personnel, buildings, and equipment.

- Monitoring sites for security breaches, safety hazards, and operational issues.

- Exercising crowd control during sports events and managing trespassers.

- Using de-escalation techniques to resolve non-violent conflicts calmly and effectively.

- Writing detailed, clear reports for daily logs and safety incidents.

- Contacting emergency services and responding calmly to urgent situations with minimal supervision.

Must Haves

- Valid BC Security License (training assistance available through in-person sessions on Vancouver Island or via JIBC).

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Legal authorization to work in Canada.

- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

- Good physical fitness and the ability to walk for extended periods.

Nice-to-Haves

- Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 or higher.

- Working knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
