This Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant role supports people in their homes, schools, retirement homes, and other community settings.
You will assist individual exercise programs, ADL training, transfers, stairs, positioning, and gross or fine motor activities.
The position also involves reporting health changes, completing records, and supporting quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities: Assist clients with prescribed exercises and ADL training
Support protected transfers, stairs, walking, and positioning
Assist gross motor, fine motor, and balance activities
Evaluate environmental and personal safety risks when relevant
Participate in program planning and quality improvement
Requirements: Ability to apply proper body mechanics during mobility assistance
Ability to educate clients and families about physical needs
Ability to monitor and report changing health status
Commitment to safe client care policies and procedures
Ability to report incidents according to policy and Ontario law
Bring rehabilitation assistance, safety assessment, mobility, and client support skills to VHAâs community healthcare services.
