Industrial Refrigeration Technician - Ammonia Systems

Location: Mississauga / Greater Toronto Area
Compensation: Local 787 Zone 1 journeyman rates

Are you a licensed 313A Refrigeration Mechanic with experience working on industrial ammonia systems? We're looking for a skilled technician to join an established service team supporting customers in food processing, cold storage, recreational facilities and industrial manufacturing.

This field service position offers varied technical work, a company service vehicle and the support of a team committed to safety and technical development.

Compensation and Benefits

$65.06/hr base rate, plus an additional $6.51/hr under the Local 787 Zone 1 journeyman wage scale.

Additional $12.50/hr in union pension and benefit contributions.

The Opportunity

As an Industrial Refrigeration Technician, you will install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial refrigeration equipment, with a focus on ammonia (NH₃) systems. You'll work at customer sites, diagnose mechanical, electrical and control issues, and help ensure equipment operates safely and reliably.

Key Responsibilities

Install, commission, maintain and repair industrial and ammonia refrigeration systems.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls and system performance issues.

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections and equipment performance checks.





Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repairs or system improvements.

Complete work in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes and ammonia safety practices.

Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal teams.

Complete service reports, maintenance records and documentation of parts and materials used.

Work independently in the field and collaborate with technicians, supervisors and support staff.

Maintain service tools, equipment and the company vehicle in safe working condition.

Qualifications

Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic licence.

Minimum five years of hands-on industrial refrigeration experience, including demonstrated experience working on ammonia systems.

Experience in environments such as food processing, cold storage, ice rinks, process cooling or industrial manufacturing.

Strong mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and provide professional customer service.

Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.

Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and accurate documentation.

Experience with gas, oil and burner systems is an asset but is not required.
