Position: Senior Network Designer

Duration: 1 Year assignment (contract)
Client Location: Toronto (Onsite/Hybrid: 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)

About the Engagement

Akkodis is seeking an experienced Senior Network Designer to support large-scale network modernization and network security transformation initiatives within a complex enterprise environment.

The successful consultant will provide senior-level architecture, design, and strategic planning expertise across enterprise networking, cloud connectivity, security architecture, automation, and WAN transformation programs. The resource will play a critical role in developing future-state network architectures, supporting cloud connectivity strategies, and guiding modernization initiatives that improve scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.

This role requires a highly experienced network architect capable of leading end-to-end architecture delivery from strategy and design through migration and transition planning while collaborating with business, technical, security, and executive stakeholders.

Scope

Create architectural roadmaps and migration plans for network transformation projects.

Design hybrid network architectures spanning on-premises and multi-cloud environments.

Provide leadership and technical expertise on network security initiatives.

Evaluate existing network environments and identify opportunities for optimization and modernization.

Drive network automation and AIOps initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

Assignment Deliverables





Future-state WAN architecture and transformation roadmaps.

Architecture design for next-generation network initiatives.

Cloud connectivity architecture and migration strategy documentation.

Hybrid cloud connectivity designs leveraging AWS and Azure services.

Expertise Required

Must Have:

10+ years of experience designing and supporting large-scale enterprise or service provider WAN environments.

Proven experience delivering end-to-end architecture initiatives from strategy through migration and transition.

Deep expertise in WAN architecture and network transformation programs.

Demonstrated experience leading MPLS-to-SD-WAN modernization initiatives.

Strong understanding of MPLS architectures, QoS, and traffic engineering.

Advanced knowledge of routing protocols including:

BGP

OSPF

IS-IS

Experience designing hybrid cloud networking solutions.

Experience designing AWS networking solutions, including:

VPC

Transit Gateway

Direct Connect

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of Network Detection and Response (NDR) technologies.

Familiarity with provincial, national, or large-scale public-sector technology environments.

Security Clearance

Required.
