Job Title: Crew Lead, Field Operations
Pay: CA$28.00 per hour
Job type: Full-time, Permanent (Guaranteed 32+ hours per week)
Job description:
Who Are We?
Sol Senior Services helps Manitoba seniors move to new homes with dignity and care. We pack, move, and unpack so that clients and their families can focus on what matters. Our work spans downsizing, retirement community moves, and full estate transitions across Winnipeg.
Job Summary
As Sol’s Crew Lead, you run every job on site. You drive the truck and 20 ft enclosed trailer, lead a crew of 2 to 4 packers and movers, keep the day on schedule, and solve problems as they come up. This is a working lead role: you pack, load, and carry alongside your crew while you lead it.
Our clients are seniors leaving homes they have lived in for decades. Every decision you make on site follows three Sol principles, in this order:
- No injuries. Crew, clients, and building staff all go home safe.
- A happy client and care home partner. The client feels respected, and the building wants Sol back.
- Nothing broken. Every item and every wall arrives the way it left.
What You Will Do
- Schedule crews in Jobber, confirm shifts in writing, and book elevator windows, loading docks, and parking with each building
- Review each move plan and floor plan ahead of time, and plan the packing order and trailer load before the crew arrives
- Complete pre-trip inspections and drive the truck and trailer safely to and from every job
- Lead the opening and final walkthroughs with the client, and act as the single point of contact for families and building staff on move day
- Work hands-on through packing, loading, carrying, and unpacking while assigning tasks and checking the crew’s work
- Keep each job within its quoted hours, and solve problems on the spot without waiting to be told
- Submit a move report within 24 hours of every job, covering hours, any damage or near misses, and how the crew performed
- Train new packers and movers on their first shifts
- Keep the trailer, totes, and equipment clean, stocked, and in working order
- Look for faster, safer ways to work, and bring improvement ideas to the team
What Are We Looking For?
- Proven experience driving and loading a trailer
- Experience leading a crew or team on physical jobs
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba driver’s licence and a clean driver’s abstract for the past three years
- Willing to consent to a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
- Two professional references
- Strong written communication for move reports and client texts
- Comfortable using a smartphone, Jobber, and simple spreadsheets
- Available full-time, including some weekends and early mornings
- 18 years or older and legally able to work in Canada
- Able to lift 75 lbs repeatedly over a full shift, including on stairs, and work outdoors in Winnipeg weather from -25°C to +30°C
- A calm, pragmatic person who plans ahead, keeps the day on time, and owns their mistakes
Bonus Points
- Experience with seniors, dementia care, or hospice work
- Handyman skills: TV mounting, picture hanging, furniture assembly
- First aid or CPR certification
- A second language common among Winnipeg seniors, such as French, Tagalog, or German
- Class 3 licence with air brake endorsement
What We Offer
- $28 per hour, with 32 guaranteed hours per week, paid biweekly by direct deposit
- Full time employment with overtime and vacation pay under Manitoba employment standards
- Truck, trailer, equipment, tools, and uniform provided
- Steady hours year-round: slower weeks are filled with equipment maintenance, art hanging, open houses, and crew training
- A 90-day onboarding period: shadow jobs with our co-founder before leading on your own
- Meaningful work alongside families during a major life transition
- A leadership role in a growing local company
Benefits:
- Paid training
- Company-provided uniform and equipment
- Pathway to extended health perks after successful tenure with the company
