Job Title: Distribution Engineer (Networks)

We are seeking a Networks Engineer who specializes in underground electrical distribution networks for high-density and downtown developments. This role is focused on power-distribution engineering and involves supporting customer-driven and non-standard underground distribution projects from initial scoping through design, construction support, and technical closeout.

Responsibilities

- Lead the engineering and design review of underground electrical distribution projects supporting high-density, downtown, and non-standard developments.
- Develop project scope and evaluate distribution alternatives with internal customers, external customers, designers, consultants, and technical specialists.
- Review underground distribution designs including duct banks, underground cable routing, structures, equipment interfaces, cable pulling requirements, and connections to existing distribution infrastructure.
- Perform or approve distribution engineering calculations and studies, including loading studies, voltage-drop calculations, and cable-pulling calculations.
- Review engineering drawings, bills of materials, cost estimates, technical calculations, and construction packages for completeness, constructability, and compliance.

Essential Skills

- 510+ years of engineering industry experience, ideally within electric utility or power-distribution environments.
- Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with at least one year working as a P.Eng.
- Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering; relevant Civil or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience with underground electrical distribution systems.




- Experience reviewing engineering work and designs prepared by other engineers, consultants, or contractors.
- Understanding of underground cable systems, including cable selection/routing considerations, voltage drop, loading, and cable-pulling requirements.
- Permitting experience, including utility rights-of-way and previous interaction with Alberta Transportation.
- Experience coordinating with construction personnel and responding to technical RFIs and field issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience specifically with high-density or downtown underground distribution networks.
- Experience working on customer-driven utility projects involving constrained rights-of-way and existing underground infrastructure.
- Experience with underground duct-bank design and multidisciplinary electrical/civil coordination.
- Experience where projects interface with or transition between overhead and underground systems.
- PLS-CADD experience for projects involving overhead distribution components.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position located at ENMAX Place in SE Calgary. The role involves being part of a team of 6 Project Engineers and 4 designers, each managing up to 30 customer projects ranging from $5,000 to $5MM in size. The position includes occasional site/field visits, with all sites within driving distance. The work environment is collaborative,



providing exposure to complex distribution projects and the potential for long-term career growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
