Job Title: Forklift Operator Morning Shift

Job Description

This role is a contract-to-hire opportunity at a up-to-date distribution site, focused on order picking and material handling in a clean, organized warehouse environment. You will use RF scan guns and operate multiple types of material handling equipment, including sit-down counterbalance forklifts, dockstockers, and reach trucks, with occasional use of power pallet jacks. The position involves loading and unloading trailers, performing case and bulk picks, and handling some heavier items while supporting efficient shipping, receiving, and inventory operations during morning shifts.

Responsibilities

- Use RF scan guns to accurately perform order picking, case picking, and bulk picking tasks.
- Operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, dockstockers, and occasionally power pallet jacks to move, stage, and store product.
- Load and unload trailers safely and efficiently, ensuring products are handled and stacked correctly.
- Perform case picks and bulk picks, including some heavy lifting, while maintaining productivity and accuracy targets.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including staging product, scanning items, and putting inventory away using RF units.
- Work with warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, confirm orders, and maintain accurate stock levels.
- Follow established processes to start in case picking to learn product lines, then progress into receiving and bulk operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area,



adhering to all warehouse safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines.
- Collaborate with a team of warehouse staff to meet daily shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment goals.
- Adapt to working with different equipment brands (such as Crown and other reach and dockstockers) as assigned to specific shifts.

Essential Skills

- Proven experience operating reach trucks, dockstockers, and end-rider power pallet jacks in a warehouse environment.
- Valid forklift and material handling equipment certification suitable for operating reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, dockstockers, and power pallet jacks.
- Availability to work morning shifts, Monday to Friday, within the specified hours.
- Hands-on warehouse experience in shipping, receiving, and order picking operations.
- At least 1 year of experience operating reach forklifts.
- Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts for loading, unloading, and staging product.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including trailer loading and unloading.
- Knowledge of warehouse inventory systems (WMS) and ability to use them for tracking and confirming orders.
- Strong RF scanning skills for order picking, case picking,



and product put-away.
- Ability to perform case picking and bulk picking, including some heavy lifting, while maintaining accuracy and speed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience operating double-deep reach trucks and sit-down forklifts is an asset.
- Comfort working with RF scanners and RF units for product scanning and staging.
- Ability to work at multiple facilities in the southeast and at newer buildings as needed.
- Experience operating all three key forklifts listed: sit-down/counterbalance forklift, dockstocker, and power pallet jack.
- Possession of Alberta forklift certification is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Crown reach trucks, Crown dockstockers, and single power pallets.
- Willingness to start in case picking to learn products and then grow into receiving and bulk roles.
