About the Role

Our client, a leading mining corporation, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the implementation of advanced technology solutions within their operations. This role is based in Kimberley, Northern Cape, ZA, and is critical for driving innovation and efficiency in the mining sector. You will manage projects related to automation, data analytics, and operational technology (OT) aimed at enhancing safety, productivity, and resource management. This Project Management position requires a blend of technical understanding and strong leadership within a demanding operational environment. The role is office-based, allowing for close engagement with operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of technology projects within mining operations. Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Manage project teams comprising engineers, IT specialists, geologists, and operational personnel. Oversee the implementation of automation systems, sensor networks, and data analytics platforms in mining environments. Ensure all projects comply with strict safety, environmental, and regulatory standards specific to the mining industry. Manage project budgets effectively and control costs to ensure financial viability. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing proactive contingency plans. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, both on-site and at the Kimberley head office. Monitor project progress against key performance indicators and provide regular, comprehensive reports to senior management. Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Requirements

A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in Project Management, with a significant focus on technology implementation within the mining or heavy industrial sectors. Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects involving automation, OT, and data analytics. Strong understanding of mining operations, challenges, and the application of technology. Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools. Excellent leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on operational improvements. Proficiency in managing project budgets and controlling expenditures. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Electrical, Mechanical), Computer Science, or a related field. PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively from our Kimberley office and potentially travel to mine sites. Benefits
