About the OpportunityWe are seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer trending toward Tech Lead to join a flagship engineering organization building mission-critical mobile platforms. This team serves as the core technical delivery engine for high-scale, cross-platform mobile applications supporting million of active users and high-volume digital transactions across North America.
You will step into a hands-on, high-ownership engineering environment where you will write clean, production-grade code while stepping up to provide technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural leadership across modern mobile applications.
Key Responsibilities- Hands-on Development: Design, build, test, and maintain high-performance, secure mobile applications leveraging Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) alongside native Android (Jetpack Compose) and iOS (Swift) architectures.
- Architecture & Modernization: Steer cross-platform code-sharing initiatives without sacrificing native performance, device-specific UI fidelity, or strict platform security standards.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the primary technical sounding board within the squad—conducting thorough peer code reviews, establishing clean coding conventions, untangling complex architectural blockers, and mentoring engineers.
- Enterprise Integration: Interface with modern cloud data layers, distributed backend APIs, and enterprise identity/authentication frameworks.
- Quality & Reliability: Drive comprehensive automated testing, CI/CD pipeline automation, and performance profiling to ensure zero regression across production-grade transactional platforms.
Required Technical Qualifications & Experience- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep, specialized production experience building and deploying consumer- or enterprise-facing mobile applications.
- Hands-on Multiplatform & Native Depth:
* Demonstrated mastery of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for business logic and data-layer sharing.
* Deep native Android expertise using up-to-date architecture and Jetpack Compose.
* Strong working proficiency in native iOS development using modern Swift and native UI frameworks.
- Architecture & Patterns: Solid understanding of Clean Architecture, MVI/MVVM design patterns, coroutines/flows, reactive programming, and modular application design.
- Security & Performance: Proven track record dealing with complex mobile challenges (data caching, memory leaks, high-frequency state management, API latency, and enterprise-grade mobile security standards).
- Leadership Readiness: Demonstrated capacity or strong desire to step into a Tech Lead capacity; possessing the communication maturity to align technical direction with product managers and business stakeholders without hand-holding.

- Work Arrangement: Must be able to work on-site at the downtown Toronto office 3 days per week minimum (core team days in-office). Fully verified professional references are required prior to start.
