Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O;) Developer for a 4-month fully remote contract supporting a key ERP modernization initiative involving the migration from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to D365 F&O.; This is a hands-on consulting engagement requiring a senior resource who can quickly assess the current environment, identify technical requirements, and contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up time.

The ideal candidate is a true consultant with proven experience delivering AX 2012 to D365 F&O; migration and upgrade projects, capable of working independently, providing technical guidance, and executing development activities throughout the project lifecycle. This individual should be comfortable engaging with both technical and business stakeholders while helping drive project outcomes in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to hit the ground running and bring practical experience navigating the challenges associated with ERP modernization, customizations, integrations, and data migration.

Responsibilities

- Support the migration and upgrade of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Design, develop, and support customizations, extensions, and integrations within D365 F&O.;
- Analyze existing AX 2012 customizations and recommend upgrade or modernization approaches.
- Develop and modify X++, forms, classes, workflows, and business logic within D365 F&O.;
- Collaborate with functional consultants, project stakeholders, and business users to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Support data migration, validation, testing,



and deployment activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to system performance, integrations, and application functionality.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure development aligns with Microsoft best practices.
- Document technical designs, development activities, and migration approaches.
- Provide guidance and recommendations on architecture, development standards, and optimization opportunities.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience developing solutions within Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Proven experience participating in or leading AX 2012 to D365 F&O; migration or upgrade projects.
- Strong development experience with X++ and D365 F&O; extension-based development.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps, source control, build pipelines, and release management.
- Strong understanding of D365 F&O; architecture, data entities, and customization frameworks.
- Experience developing and supporting integrations using APIs, web services, and middleware solutions.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and operate effectively in a consulting environment.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

- Experience with data migration tools and upgrade frameworks.
- Knowledge of Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or other D365 F&O; modules.
- Experience with Power Platform, Power Automate, or Power BI.
- Previous consulting experience within enterprise-scale ERP transformations.
- Microsoft Dynamics certifications.
