Support electronic parking meters across Vancouver through software programming, equipment diagnostics, and operational data coordination. This regular full time position serves the City of Vancouver.

The Engineering Assistant supports parking meter hardware, software, and firmware performance across more than 11,000 parking meter spaces. Duties include configuring rate profiles, maintaining databases, analyzing reports, resolving technical issues, and supporting field staff. The position also provides technical guidance and communicates recommendations to Leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

- Program parking meter software, rates, messages, and behavior changes
- Diagnose equipment, software, hardware, and firmware performance issues
- Maintain asset databases, inventory controls, and operational reports
- Analyze maintenance data and identify performance trends and risks
- Train, coach, and guide frontline parking meter staff

Requirements:

- Diploma in Engineering Technology or data/software, or equivalent
- Knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical device diagnostics
- Skill using diagnostic tools, databases, and reporting applications
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, interpretive, and communication skills
- Five-year ICBC driver abstracts and claims history documentation
