Reports to: Senior Manager, Platform EngineeringAbout This RoleRates.Ca operates a modern, regulated, multi‑platform engineering ecosystem spanning cloud, edge, CI/CD, observability, and data platforms. As the platform surface grows, we’re looking for strong Platform Engineers who can:Build and evolve paved roads for software engineersOperate confidently across cloud and edge architecturesReduce friction, risk, and toil across delivery teamsPartner closely with Security, Operations, and Software EngineeringWhat You’ll Work On (Platform Scope)You’ll contribute to and operate across the core platforms currently used at Rates.Ca, including:AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, networking, managed services)Hybrid workloads spanning serverless and VM-based systemsRegional and workplace‑aware deployment patternsEdge & Traffic PlatformsCloudflare as a first‑class platform, including:CDN and edge routingCloudflare Workers for edge APIs and request transformationDNS, SSL/TLS, and traffic managementWAF, bot management, rate limiting, and DDo S protectionIntegration between Cloudflare edge and AWSCI/CD & Infrastructure as CodeGit Lab CI/CD pipelinesTerraform for infrastructure provisioning and change controlEnvironment consistency across production and non‑productionObservability & OperationsPlatform‑level alerting and signal hygieneIncident prevention in partnership with Engineering OperationsData & Persistence (in partnership with data specialists)Relational databases (e.G., Maria DB or managed RDS‑style platforms)Event‑driven and data‑pipeline integrations (where applicable)Secure data access patterns and operational guardrailsCore ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain standardized platform components used by product teamsImprove developer experience through self‑service tooling and automationReduce bespoke infrastructure patterns and undocumented tribal knowledgeTreat internal platforms as products, with consumers and feedback loopsImplement and evolve Cloudflare and AWS patterns for performance, reliability,



and securitySupport edge use cases such as API proxying, validation, and transformationEnsure consistent routing, TLS, and traffic controls across environmentsParticipate in Cloudflare operational readiness and incident response workflowsReliability & Security by DefaultEmbed security and compliance guardrails into platform primitivesPartner with Security Engineering on:Firewall rulesEdge security analyticsReduce platform‑caused incidents through automation and standardizationContribute to post‑incident remediation and systemic fixesAI‑Augmented Platform WorkUse approved AI‑assisted tooling to:Analyze logs and metricsAccelerate root‑cause analysisEnsure AI is used responsibly, with human review and auditabilityWhat Success Looks LikeSoftware Engineers adopt standard platform paths by defaultFaster environment provisioning with fewer manual stepsReduced edge‑ and platform‑related incidentsClear, observable behavior across cloud and edge layersPlatforms that scale without increasing cognitive loadWhat You BringStrong experience as a Platform, Cloud, or Infrastructure EngineerHands‑on experience with AWS cloud servicesHands‑on experience managing Cloudflare (CDN, Workers, DNS, WAF, TLS)Experience with Terraform and modern CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab or equivalent)Comfort working across networking, security, and application boundariesStrong troubleshooting and systems‑thinking skillsExperience with edge and cloud architectures (Cloudflare + AWS)Observability tooling experience (e.G.,
