Experience working with youth with special needs would be considered an asset

Experience working with youth with special needs with training in Autism would be an asset

Post-secondary training in educational assistant, exceptionality worker, special education assistant, or a related field would be considered an asset

Experience working with First Nation students in a culturally diverse community would be considered and assetDESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations;Ability to work as a member of a team;Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;Ability to work with minimal supervision;Experience working with children with Autism is an asset

Experience working with students in outdoor learning environments is an assetCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date

Standard First Aid Certificate or a willingness to complete within 3 months

Completion of the Educational Assistant Module by the end of the school year
