Operate crushing, milling, and sample preparation equipment at ALS while supporting analytical quality through established laboratory procedures.
As a General Labour Technician, you will prepare client samples and perform test work within ALS’s Sample Preparation and Comminution Department. The position includes sieving, crushing, homogenizing, splitting, compositing, screen analysis, and equipment inspections. You will also maintain production logs, follow safety policies, and use the electronic computer sample database.
Key Responsibilities: Sieve, crush, homogenize, and split client samples
Complete test work using Bond rod and ball mills
Perform supervised testing with specified laboratory equipment
Maintain production logs and complete routine inspections
Follow procedures, schedules, and laboratory safety requirements
Requirements: Grade 12 diploma
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
Valuable communication, organization, and hand-coordination skills
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Forklift licence or experience preferred
Apply sample preparation, comminution, equipment operation, and safety skills as a Laboratory Technician supporting ALS testing services.
