The Pharmacy Assistant supports technical prescription filling and administrative duties while helping the Pharmacist provide patient care. This position contributes to pharmacy operations and customer service. Responsibilities include prescription assessment, computer functions, inventory control, housekeeping, clerical organization, and OTC support.
Key Responsibilities: Receive prescriptions and assess required patient and prescriber information
Enter patient data, process refills, and generate reports
Fill prescriptions under Pharmacist supervision using accuracy checks
Maintain inventory, process orders, and remove expired medications
Support housekeeping, clerical filing, and OTC operations
Requirements: Be at least 16 years old
Interpret written prescriptions, including Latin abbreviations
Recognize drug names and perform dosage calculations
Complete seven point, visual, and DIN accuracy checks
Follow provincial legal and regulatory conditions
Bring prescription processing, inventory control, and customer service skills to Walmart Pharmacy’s Port Elgin team under Pharmacist supervision.
