Job Description
Project Description
The Evidence in Allergy Group, led by Dr. Derek Chu at McMaster University, conducts systematic reviews, meta-analyses, clinical practice guidelines, and related evidence-to-practice research across allergy and clinical immunology.
Job Summary
The Research Coordinator (I) will work closely with Dr. Chu and under the supervision of a senior Research Coordinator to independently conduct and advance multiple evidence-synthesis and guideline projects from protocol development through publication. Responsibilities will include conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses of treatment effects, harms, diagnostic accuracy, prognosis, and other clinical questions; developing protocols and analytic plans; coordinating searches, screening, data extraction, risk-of-bias assessment, quantitative synthesis, and certainty-of-evidence assessment; and maintaining rigorous and reproducible project documentation.
The Coordinator will manage review teams, including research assistants and trainees; establish workflows and timelines; train and quality-check reviewers; troubleshoot methodological and data issues; and ensure projects progress efficiently. The position will also involve leading manuscripts, evidence reports, abstracts, slides, and presentations; coordinating co-author revisions; responding to journal peer review; and actively advancing manuscripts through revision and publication. Guideline activities may include preparation of GRADE evidence profiles, Summary of Findings tables, Evidence-to-Decision materials, panel presentations, and supporting documents. This includes mobilizing evidence through the Allergy Learning and Implementation Network (ALIN) and helping to build ALIN as a sustainable platform linking evidence generation, guidelines, clinicians, patients and families, and implementation. Activities may include developing evidence summaries and dissemination products, coordinating educational and knowledge-mobilization initiatives, engaging partners and knowledge users, supporting evaluation of implementation activities, and developing ALIN's processes, resources, partnerships, and programming. The ideal candidate will combine strong evidence-synthesis and quantitative-methods skills with excellent scientific writing, organization, initiative, and project-management ability.
