Design all-electric vehicle chassis systems at Lightship using mechanical design fundamentals, CAD, and structural engineering judgment. Own components from concept through production.
As a Staff Chassis Systems Design Engineer, you will develop and integrate suspension, braking, drive unit, and structural systems. You will translate requirements into manufacturable designs meeting strength, stiffness, durability, mass, packaging, serviceability, cost, and production targets. The work spans detailed design, prototype builds, validation, and production release.
Key Responsibilities: Design chassis components and assemblies from concept through production
Define load cases, load paths, and engineering calculations
Apply GD&T;, tolerancing, interfaces, and packaging requirements
Create and maintain production-quality CAD and drawings
Execute verification plans and resolve build issues
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, automotive, aerospace, or related engineering
Eight or more years of relevant mechanical or structural design experience
Experience developing systems through prototype, validation, and production release
Proficiency with three-dimensional CAD and engineering drawings
Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes
Bring chassis integration, structural analysis, CAD, and validation expertise to Lightship’s all-electric vehicle development program.
