We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a dynamic finance team supporting a diversified portfolio of businesses in Markham, Ontario. This Long-term Contract opportunity is well suited to an experienced accounting specialist who thrives in a hands-on, multi-entity environment and can balance accuracy with efficiency. The role will contribute to daily accounting operations, reporting, reconciliations, and financial oversight while partnering with internal teams to maintain strong financial controls.

Responsibilities:

- Lead core accounting activities across multiple entities, including general ledger oversight, payables, receivables, tax support, and audit preparation.
- Coordinate invoice processing and payment cycles to ensure obligations are settled accurately and on schedule.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and maintain reliable supporting documentation for review.
- Prepare sales tax reconciliations and complete required filings within established deadlines.
- Administer rent-related payments and serve as a finance contact for landlord inquiries and correspondence.
- Monitor cash positions, support banking activities, and assist with forecasting to improve visibility into short-term liquidity needs.
- Drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by recording journal entries, accruals, and other required adjustments.
- Produce accurate financial statements and management reports in line with accounting standards and internal reporting requirements.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, amortization, and capitalization treatment.
- Recommend and support improvements to accounting processes, reporting practices, and system usage to enhance efficiency and control.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline; an accounting designation is considered an asset.




- At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong exposure to full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to complete account, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyze data and prepare clear financial schedules.
- Experience working with enterprise accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Sage.
- Solid organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
- Must be legally authorized to work.
